Good views, especially in winter. Follows Limestone Way up from Matlock Bridge to reach fields above Bonsall, then loops left to return via Matlock Bath and Heights of Abraham. About 800 ft. of climbing but no steep ascent or descent
Distance 6.2 km
Follows Limestone Way up from Matlock Bridge to reach fields above Bonsall, then loops left to return via Matlock Bath and Heights of Abraham. Passes examples of the "Barns of Bonsall" that doubled for livestock and lead ore storage. Also passes site of Tinkers Mine. and Great Masson Cavern. Good views of High Tor, Riber and Derwent Valley on return leg past cable cars and Heights of Abraham. Lots of mining heritage on the route.
Quite a lot of climbing for the length of route but worth it with some good views, especially in winter.
