Easy moorland walk taking in Captain Cooks Monument and a great taste of the North York Moors - especially good with the heather in bloom

A pleasant afternoons walk from Gribdale above Great Ayton. The walk takes in the majestic monument to Captain Cook which can been seen from miles around before dropping through woodland to join a short section of road. Follow the road down to Lonsdale Farm and then up alongside the plantation (rough track here as well used by 4*4s). On reaching Great Ayton moor follow the bridleway looping back around to the car.
