A pleasant afternoons walk from Gribdale above Great Ayton. The walk takes in the majestic monument to Captain Cook which can been seen from miles around before dropping through woodland to join a short section of road. Follow the road down to Lonsdale Farm and then up alongside the plantation (rough track here as well used by 4*4s). On reaching Great Ayton moor follow the bridleway looping back around to the car.

Beautiful walk. Not too challenging. A couple of decent inclines, but a good length for children (10 & 12) to do without moaning. The views were amazing and the dog loved the woods.

Guide was spot on and the route was the perfect length and level of difficulty for my four year old daughter. Would prefer if the app provided instructions for how to navigate to the start point of routes as, although I was familiar with the start on this route, there will be other start points that are unfamiliar to me (maybe this is a feature but this was my first go so might have missed something).We will be doing this route again in the near future.
