An exploration of the countryside to the east of Burford, together with a short wander around the town itself.
moderate
Distance 10.2 km
Starting at the free car park in the middle of Burford, this route explores the countryside to the east of Burford. The highlight of the walk is the area around the deserted medieval village of Widford, and in particular the church which has some rare wall paintings (it's often mentioned that this church also has Roman mosaic flooring, but this has now been covered up to prevent it deteriorating, so it's no longer visible). From there you head back to Burford along the River Windrush.
Not a bad walk, but no great views or standout moments.
