This is a lovely short walk through two very small quiet villages, up the Devil's Rest Bottom.

Parking: There are various places along the access road to Bishopstone village where cars can park.
The routes starts at Bishopstone village and you have the opportunity to visit the church and see some of the oldest and beautiful buildings in the village by following the pathway by the church and onto the village green.
You then leave Bishopstone village and head further along the county lane to the hamlet of Norton, with its prize winning Devonshire Cattle. At the far end of the hamlet you turn right and go off road. The footpath can be a little tricky to follow here so keep an eye on your map! You then head up the valley named "Devil's Rest Bottom" following the fence line. You eventually move into a narrow pathway with hedges on both sides, before emerging into an arable field, for the final climb up onto a track called "The Comp".
You now head south taking the path which stays to the right. On your left hidden in the scrubland is a covered reservoir, one of many which are located across the Sussex Downs providing water to the local towns and villages.
At the end of this path you reach the corner of Seaford Golf Course. Just before you get there you need to take a right turn through the hedgerow to the edge of the field. The public footpath follows the edge of the field as you now start heading down and back towards Bishopstone.
As you approach New Barn, the footpath is flanked by hedgrows and bushes and decents down hill.
You take a final right turn onto a wide track through the houses back into the village, where you can either go on to explore the church and village green, where you can sit and enjoy a picnic after all your hard work, or head back to your parking spot.
