A short stroll through some of the town’s wonderful parks and green spaces.
Leaving Thompson Park to take in some of the wonderful Brun Valley Forest Park, heading into Rowley. You will then begin to make your way back over the Ridge, through Queens Park finishing back in Thompson Park.

Turn-by-turn directions
Start/End - Thompson Park Pavilion
- You will head into the park, keeping the lake to your left and after crossing over the bridge by The Boat House turn right to follow the footpath towards Bank Top.
- Following the path with the river on your right, you will take a turn leading you under the road. Follow the footpath next to the river with a fence on your left before joining Netherwood Road.
- Please be aware of traffic as you continue along Netherwood Road. There are footpaths in eyesight along the river side we recommend strolling along; however, these may be less suitable for prams.
- When you reach the metal bridge on your right, cross over the river Brun.
- Follow the footpath as it gently climbs uphill until you meet Rowley Lane.
- Climb Rowley Lane until you come out to meet the Junction of Brunshaw Road. Again, please be aware of vehicles on the lane. There are footpaths alongside the road edge which we advise you to use.
- Turn right at the Top of Rowley Lane, travelling along Brunshaw Road to join Ridge Avenue.
- Continue down Ridge Avenue to the mini roundabout.
- Using the traffic island, cross Ridge Avenue safely and enter Queens Park on the corner of Ormerod Road, travelling through the park to the exit on Belvedere Road.
- Use the Pelican Crossing, and traffic islands to cross Belvedere Road and Queen Victoria Road. Travel along Ormerod Road back into Thompson Park to finish at the Pavilion.
