A surprisingly enjoyable route, given the number of motorways and major roads close by!

Distance 10.9 km
Starting from roadside parking by the village hall in Ashby, this route heads past the church and manor house, then northwards over fields, across the A5, to join the old route of the A5 right next to the M1. Although you can't ignore the noise, the old A5 is surprisingly enjoyable to walk along. You then turn along the bridleway to Kilsby, which becomes a more established track once past a farmhouse. The route goes through Kilsby (past a noticeboard giving information about more circular walks starting in Kilsby itself), heading out southwards, over the normally empty M45, towards Barby. Rather than going into Barby itself we turn southwards again, through farmland, back to Ashby St. Ledgers.
Lots of stiles, and a couple of sections with old/obscured warmarking, but generally easy to find the route.
