Aonach Eagach

Wiltshire Search & Rescue
Time - approx. 6 hours (longer if you need to hike back up the valley to your car)
Difficulty - hard scrambling over very rough terrain, exposed areas particularly between Am Bodach and Stob Coire Leith
Aonach Eagach
(full route guide to be added later)
NOTE - However tempting it may be, I would not recommend descending into Clachaig Gully from the summit of Sgorr nam Fiannaidh. The path is extremely eroded and has been the scene of several fatalities and many serious injuries over the years.
Furthermore, some people suggest descending southwards from the summit towards Loch Achtriochtan. I have not done this myself, however by all accounts this is a very steep descent with a lot of scree and therefore best avoided.
I do however highly recommend stopping at the Clachaig Inn at the end of the walk (you'll deserve it). If you dont have a second car/someone to give you a lift back up the valley, you could hitchhike on the road near the Clachaig (providing it's safe to do so of course). I got a lift within about 30 seconds from the first car that came along and there are many people in the area more than happy to give hikers a lift. If not, have a fun slog back up the valley!
