Through the village to ancient sites in Alton Prior then up a section of The Ridgeway and onto the downs with the White Horse infront of us

The route is planned for an anti clockwise walk 

The Barge at Honeystrete, " the most famous pub in the universe"

Got to barns below first hill where we were supposed to turn left and there is a sign saying private land no right of way. Went up hill then back along the canal the way we had come. Other walkers behind us had to do the same.

First part of the loop directs along a road / track saying No public right of way. When I used it the very last section of this path had a locked gate and cows on it. I turned left and went round the field margin and rejoined the route. Great views of the area form up by the white horse.
