Warsash to Southampton via Hamble-le-Rice, Netley, Weston, Woolston, Itchen Bridge, Ocean Village.
Roadside to small ferry across to Hamble. Woodland and waterside walk to surburbs of Southampton, Itchen Bridge and into Ocean Village to end in Mayflower Park.
Solent Way
An easy half day walk from a central Warsash, with one small all year round pedestrian ferry crossing (painted an alarming bright pink). Follow the Solent Way - mostly paved but with a muddy woodland path early. The route continues waterside passing a large oil terminal with views over Southampton Water to the oil refinery at Fawley. The streets of Netley pass right by Netley Abbey - which is worth a peek - before continuing into the suburbs of Southampton and a crossing of the Itchen Bridge into Ocean Village. This route ends in Mayflower Park and was also the start / finish line for my entire 5,045 mile coast walk. The end is a place with open views across Southampton Water and a spot where many much more famous and historic journeys than mine had both started and ended.
