Sea bank to start then inland from Irlam's Beach around marshes. Fields and muddy farmland. Sea bank / wall, road, promenade, sea wall and promenade again to end.
Essex Way (briefly)
Plenty of sea wall walking again on this route as it heads inland from Irlam's Beach around the marshes of Hamford Water Nature Reserve almost as far as Little and Great Oakley. Then it's sea bank / wall again to Kirby-le-Soken and road to Walton-on-the-Naze. The rewards is a rare sea view at last with a promenade walk through Frinton-on-Sea lined with rows upon rows of beach huts. Sea wall again becomes promenade once more as Holland and Clacton approach.
