California to Corton via Caistor-on-Sea, Great Yarmouth, Gorleston-on-Sea, Hopton-on-Sea.
Sandy beach to start. Inland at Caistor Point for the roads and promenade of Great Yarmouth. Docks, town and pavement before another sandy beach and promenade at Gorleston. Path and shingle beach (access closed for me) - hence a scramble up the cliff and lanes to end.
No Marked Trail
With an easy beach walk to start the route soon arrives in Great Yarmouth and heads along the promenade and down towards the docks before turning back along the quayside towards the town centre. Streets and pavements run to Gorleston where another promenade and small beautiful sandy beach await. The path quickly peters out to become a shingle beach. Normally I would have expected to continue down the beach but at the time of walking the beach was closed due to a cliff collapse. Hence the plotted route includes an awkward scramble up the cliff, a quick nip across a golf course and a walk through a holiday park to rejoin the lanes into Corton and Suffolk.
My Rank **
