Holkham Gap to Sheringham via Wells next the Sea, Stiffkey, Morston, Blakeney, Cley-next-the-Sea, Weybourne.
Brief woodland walk to start but soon along the harbour wall and around Wells. The onto scrubland path, sea-bank and a long shingle beach with cliff top option towards the end of the day.
Norfolk Coast Path
A well trodden woodland path opens out for a straight path up the harbour towards Wells next the Sea - very popular with visitors. Then scrubland walk with the mystery of the "whirlygig" marked on the map immediately alongside the path near Stiffkey. The answer can be found on my website, but well worth a few guesses as to what the circle of tarmac was used for before finding out. Then through popular Blakeney and a sea wall walk around the point. Dip inland for another pretty village at Cley next the Sea before returning to the coast and a trudge along a very deep shingle beach. After five miles this route opts for easier walking along the cliff top and the banks of shingle are so tall that it is only a matter of walking up them to get to the cliff top. Town streets finish the day in Sheringham
My Rank **
