198 Ravenscar to Filey

Cliff top start with steep uneven stone steps (treachourous) crossing numerous gills. Path opens out towards Scarborough ending with promenade around North and South Beaches. Amusements line the promenade of the South bay but can walk straight across the sand. Back up and over the cliffs to the end of the Cleveland Way just North of Filey. Streets and short promenade to end. 

Cleveland Way

The rugged cliff top path around to Scarborough can be a little slow when wet as some of the uneven stone steps crossing narrow steep gills can get very slippery. Nonetheless the path is glorious coast walking and it can be disappointing to return to the chip scoffing civilisation and amusements of Scarborough. The South beach is a pleasure to walk across and Scarborough undoubtedly looks better from a distance. Once out of the two sided town it is up onto the cliffs again for the last section of The Cleveland Way which finishes at a small obelisk just North of Filey. A drop down into Filey finishes the walk with a short promenade and street walk.
