7 mies of sandy beach to Cresswell before industrial remnants, sea coal beaches and promenade at Newbiggin. Short sandy beach at Cambois and Blyth town to end.
Northumberland Coast Path
A lovely start across Druridge Bay is soon replaced as the path wanders around some fairly grim landscapes as the industrial heritage of the coal industry says hello. Much of the day then dips inland and out again around roads and ex-colliery towns and miners welfare centres. Newbiggin has certainly seen some regeneration with a clever sculpture of a couple standing on the breakwater looking out to sea. Cambois beach is remarkably clean despite it's recent history. Inland and out again one last time to finish the day walking through Blyth which looks and feels like a town very down on it's heels.
