Musselburgh to North Berwick via Prestonpans, Cockenzie, Port Seton, Aberlady, Gullane.
Follow the John Muir Way along a grassy path to Prestonpans, Cockenzie and Port Seton with sandy beaches - Seton and Gosford Sands to Aberlady. Leave the JMW at Aberlady Bay for dunes, sandy beaches, golf courses and a bird reserve all the way to end walking around North Berwick golf course.
John Muir Way
A stunning day for sandy beaches, dunes and bird reserves starts with a few streets and a grassy path around Prestonpans, Cockenzie and Port Seton with a decommissioned power station due to be demolished. Crossing Seton and Gosford Sands this route arrives at the pretty village of Aberlady before the truly spectacular bird reserve of Aberlady Bay. With dunes and sandy beaches to walk along there is plenty to see with gannets diving off Fidra only yards from the shore near Gullane. The tournament golf course at North Berwick makes an interesting end to the day.
