Lunan Bay to Carnoustie via Auchmithie, Seaton Cliffs, Arbroath, East Haven.
Cross Lunan Bay to pick up the farm lanes, muddy tracks and grass path of the Angus Coastal Path. From Auchmithie trail a well marked cliff top trail ends at Arbroath. Path and cycleway alongside railway line to Carnoustie with town walking to end.
Angus Coastal Path
Lunan Bay quickly becomes farm tracks and plenty of mud if it's wet. It is pleasant walking if not coastal. However the reward is a stunning cliff top walk from Auchmithie along the top of the red sandstone of Seaton Cliffs with their wave etched spectacular arches, caves, stacks and blow holes. It was a shame it was so foggy when I walked it. Arbraoth is another reward and I reckon it is compulsory to buy a smokie or two. A disappointing cycleway runs alongside the railway into Carnoustie. Only the end of the day from Arbroath to Carnoustie stops this from being one of my top 20.
