Peterhead to Newburgh via Boddam, Bullers of Buchan, Cruden Bay, Collieston. 4*

Peterhead to Newburgh via Boddam, Bullers of Buchan, Cruden Bay, Collieston.
Leave the streets of Peterhead to go around Boddam Power Station and onto cliff top walk for the Bullers of Buchan to Slains Castle. Cross sandy Cruden Bay and back on to the cliff for 12 miles of barely used path. Up to the lane near Collieston for last few miles into Newburgh.
North Sea Trail (Nave Nortrail) - overgrown in many places.
Leaving Peterhead the cliff top path is rugged and well used. The arches and caves of the Bullers of Buchan are apparently a great sight (I couldn't see a thing in the mist). Slains Castle is popular with visitors and sandy Cruden Bay is as good as any beach in Cornwall (except for the weather). The path after Cruden Bay is often overgrown and is increasingly difficult to walk along. The path clearly isn't used or maintained much, if at all. Eventually, at Bruce's Haven, the path becomes too difficult to follow and this route ventures back to the lanes for Collieston. Back to the coast path again which is now easier to follow and round to Forvie Nature Reserve before dipping inland through the dunes for Newburgh.
