Cromarty to North Kessock via Craighead, Easter Balmungie, Rosemarkie, Chanonry Ness, Fortrose, Avoch, Munlochy.
Lanes to Fairy Glen Path near Rosemarkie. Seafront path and pavement with option to walk down the lane through the golf course to Chanonry Point. Pavement then a very dangerous section of A832, lanes and suburbs to the end.
Fairy Glen Path
Lane walking through Cromarty and forestry to start (do not take the OS marked path down to the cliff edge at Easter Balmungie - there is no access down the cliff). The Fairy Glen Path alongside a small river through woodland to Rosemarkie has a couple of lovely waterfalls and attracts strollers from the village below. A gentile seafront at Rosemarkie can be supplemented with a walk down the lane through the middle of a golf course to Chanonry Point. Beware flying golf balls if you want to see the dolphins - when the tide is right. The A832 is a narrow road with stone walls alongside. It is not nice to walk along at all and worth diverting away from it at Avoch to escape it for a few miles. Back on the A832 at least there is a tremendous view of Munlochy Bay. Lanes go inland again over quite a climb before dropping down into the suburbs of North Kessock. There is a busy dual carraigeway to cross just before the end.
My Rank **
