Hope Bridge to Bettyhill via Moine House, Tongue, Coldbackie, Strathtongue, Skerray, Torrisdale Bay. 3*

Hope Bridge to Bettyhill via Moine House, Tongue, Coldbackie, Strathtongue, Borgie Bridge.
Following the A838 mainly with opportunities to escape along stretches of the old road. Cross the Kyle of Tongue bridge and causeway. Lanes and roads to Skerray and Torrisdale then sandy beach around Torrisdale Bay. Back on to the main road to end in Bettyhill.
No Marked Trail
With another day of mainly road walking it is always good to escape the reach of a motor vehicle. Fortunately the old road is still walkable and much of it runs fairly close to the new one making it a much more pleasant walk. Look out for great graffiti at Moine House and views inland around the Kyle of Tongue. The road to Bettyhill is not very pleasant but an escape up the lanes to Skerray and to the pristine sand of Torrisdale Bay is a real boost. If I could've found a walking route around the headland at Melness (West of Tongue) I would have surely taken it as I have visited some stunning coves and beaches around there in the past. I had similar thoughts when I saw Torrisdale Bay as I walked the inland road route having missed the turning to Skerray. This route includes the bit I stupidly missed but fortunately know from previous visits.
My Rank ***
