Ardheslaig to Lower Diabaig via Shieldaig, Annat, Torridon, Inveralligin, Alligin Shuas.
Road walk again to start. Woodland lochside path to Annat. Briefly back on to the road through Torridon then into the estate around Torridon House and up onto a tough coast path via Inveralligin. Path gets rougher with every step, often boulder scrambling and precipitous drops from a narrow path along a heather clad cliff. Extremely steep drop into Lower Diabaig with roped hand holds.
No Marked Trail (though the path to Lower Diabaig should be)
One of my favourite coast walks. With road to start, the tough nature of this walk is not immediately obvious. A rather gentile woodland walk around the foreshore to Annat reveals some truly beautiful views in some hidden coves and the road into and through Torridon is a breeze. Turning off through the Torridon Estate is where this walk really starts. Following a brief battle with some bracken way above head height and a hidden waist high stone wall it was up onto a rugged coast path. The path was often very narrow and extremely rugged, but the vista was often outstanding. A very narrow section along a heather clad cliff is not for the faint hearted and the drop into Lower Diabaig was assisted by permently fixed ropes to hold on to. A fantastic little restaurant at Lower Diabaig is a truly grand reward if you have a few spare quid.
My Rank *****
