Glenelg to Shiel Bridge via Galltair, Ardintoul, Totaig, Letterfearn, Ratagan.
Lane from Glenelg to the small turntable ferry. Then Lochalsh Way along Kyle Rhea to Ardintoul. Following OS marked path very difficult - thick head high bracken and rotten tree stumps. Steep climb into thick forest - beware hidden rock faces. Very muddy path becoming better. From Totaig lane to end.
Lochalsh Way
An easy and well marked start with views over the very narrow strait of Kyle Rhea to Skye. OS marked path is not so easy to find beyond Ardintoul and is almost certainly wrong. Progress can be slow up a steep hill covered with bracken underlain by rotting wood and trees stumps. Finding the path through Ardintoul Wood wasn't easy for me, but I may have gone wrong here. Eventually the now very muddy path opens out to easier terrain which drops down, passing a broch, to Totaig. It's then a lane alongside Loch Duich to meet up with the main road at the end. Tough walking terrain for much of the middle part of the day.
My Rank ***
