Kylesmorar to Inverie via Tarbet, Inverie, Airor, Inverguseran.
Short cliff walk back to Tarbet then post ferry to Inverie. Lane to Airor and foreshore with difficult river crossing to Inverguseran. Track back inland, over steep hill and down through forest back to Inverie.
No Marked Trail
Having taken advice from the ranger on Knoydart there is no recognised path or route through to Inverie from Kylesmorar. I therefore retraced my steps a short distance back to Tarbet via the cliff top path. Take a fast post ferry across to Inverie (wise to pre-book by phone and establish very infrequent timetable). A great lunch stop at the tea shop in Inverie. Then begin the 14 mile Airor loop. I managed to complete the loop in 4.5 hours. A tarmac lane to Airor becomes a walk across the top of the foreshore to Inverguseran with a difficult river to cross when in flood and gorse bushes to scramble through. Follow an unmade track inland and up a steep hill back towards Inverie. A grand walk back to an incredibly friendly place. With the ferry journey taken into account this is not a tough walk in good weather.
My Rank ****
