Achateny to Doirlinn via Kilmory, Ockle, Singing Sands, Kentra Bay, Acharacle
Lane to rocky foreshore and track up to lane again. Track and barren heather path, moors over pass to Singing Sands. Forest track back to lane and road to Acharacle. Start of Silver Walk Coast Path but looped back down to Dorlin over a steep rough path for an accesible end point.
Silver Walk
Lanes and early foreshore walk are easy and enjoyable with the rough track from Ockle becoming a barren heather path "over brae". Path eventually drops down into forest and a short diversion to the Singing Sands is a perfect lunch stop. Back into the forest for the track and eventual lane to Acharacle. Road nearly all the rest of the way via a bridge over the River Shiel. A lovely lochside path known as The Silver Walk was not marked as a through path on my OS map so I cut back down to the A861 again for a previously arranged RV point. This route could be terminated short at the car park for Castle Tioram. If so then a visit to the stunning beaches near Ardtoe would be a worthwhile addition to the day.
My Rank ****
