Green Road to Drigg via Millom, Haverigg, Silecroft, Eskmeals, Ravenglass
Town / Industry, shingle, collapsing cliff path, pebbles, MoD lanes, river fords? fields and lanes to end.
Cumbria Coastal Way
Millom and Haverigg both desolate places but interesting all the same. A long shingle beach walk at Silecroft was a refreshing change though not easy to cross and became tougher further down. Cliff path was soft sandstone prone to slumping and slipping away. Back down to walk challenging pebble banks. Lanes around Eskmeals MoD range to (OS marked) ford across a river. Ford not passable - CCW route goes further inland. I used painters scaffolding (with permission) to cross the rail bridge. Then plenty of mud and shingle and a passable viaduct at Ravenglass. Last river into Drigg supposedly fordable. Mud too deep so diverted up stream for small bridge and path into Drigg. Best pint of my entire walk at The Victoria Hotel, Drigg.
