On the banks of the Saale, the Kammweg leads you further along the concrete slab path to under the impressive bridge structure of the A9. In Sparnberg, you will encounter a well-rehabilitated church and a wooden bridge that leads you across the Saale into the state of Bavaria. In the Franconian town of Rudolphstein, you will be tempted to stop at an inn or a butcher's shop. Then you hike again along the "Green Belt" to Pottiga/Thuringia. Shortly before reaching the village, a detour (only 150 m) to the nearby lookout point at the Wachhügel is highly recommended. Via the small market place of Pottiga you continue to Blankenberg. Here, too, a detour to the castle ruins, the church or the inn is worthwhile. At the prominent vantage point "Hochzeitskorb" you will enjoy a fantastic view of the Saale valley and your stage destination Blankenstein. Now you have to descend into the Saale valley, past the dominant paper mill to Selbitzplatz, where the Kammweg, Rennsteig, Frankenweg and Fränkischer Gebirgsweg meet. The place is also appreciatively called the hub of hiking.
