The hike is failry easy by beginner's standard. The path is extremely rewarding, taking hikers through beautiful forest ways at the beginning, bringing them out into an open space near Bucheralm. From here hikers get a expansive view of the plain lands on one side and the higher mountains on the other side. Equally rewarding view near last half hour to Bockstein. On the way down hikers can stop at the kesselalm for refreshments. From there hikers can soon leave the paved way and go through a winding forest way, crossing a small waterfall on their way.

Author’s recommendation

Since its a circuit, you can go either direction. But recommended is the direction shown here because the last half hour to Bockstein rewards with an amazing view in all directions, even looking up to the sky through the little opening in the rocks .

Turn-by-turn directions

Hike starts at the parkplatz Birkenstein. Walk up to the Chappel and take  a left  into the forest along the small stream. Follow the track up till there is a concrete bridge to cross over again to the other side of the stream. Continue here till you reach a point where you see a large barrier/gate on the left side. take the left and continue, take trails into the forest rather than the gravel road. 

On the way down, after kesselalm again starts a paved path. If you want something more memorable and a bit more adventurous, then leave the paved way and head for the waterfall. sure footed hikers will be rewarded here. after crossing the waterfall, the path winds back to the starting point of the hike back to the Chappel .
