The old Avers road runs from the Roffla Gorge into the high valley of the Avers to Juf, the highest settlement in Europe to be occupied all year round. The historical transportation route was originally built in 1895 and, over the past few years, it has been re-instated as a hiking trail.
Ruggedly romantic gorges, glacier mills, remains of the old disused mine e.g. furnace ruins, dilapidated hammer mill and works, line the trail to Innerferrera.
The ruggedly romantic Roffla Gorge is situated at the exit point from the old Avers road, slightly to the south of Andeer. The trail to Ausserferrera and on to Innerferrera takes you along the Ragn da Ferrera with its glacier mills, rock formations of slate, marble, quartzite, gneiss and Dolomites, then past the remains of an old disused mine.
