Neitvuori Panoramic Trail leads you to the highest point of South Savo to enjoy spectacular views over Luonteri lake’s labyrinthine archipelago and beautiful forest landscapes.
Neitvuori is a very well-known viewpoint and one of the highest places in South Savo, rising 183 meters above sea level. The top of Neitvuori is about 1.5 kilometers from Neitvuori parking area.
In addition to the breath-taking scenery, hikers are invited to enjoy the clean and diverse nature of the Neitvuori area. The landscape alternates between bright waters and green islands with rocky beaches. In the forests of Neitvuori you can find all species of woodpeckers and some typical birds of prey are typical to the inland waters. Luonteri lake is a very clear watered lake which is in its natural state and the Saimaa ringed seal has also been spotted to thrive in the area. The terrain of the are has been shaped by the previous ice age and in the rocks you can see several narrow valleys and ridges parallel to the glacial flow.
Along the trail you will find the Hiidenmaa farm, which is a rental hut for max. 10 persons. It is located next to the Neitvuori mountain on the Luonteri beach.
Neitvuori and Hiidenmaa hiking routes are located 35-43 kilometres from Mikkeli to the east, and can be reached from the Anttola-Puumala -road (road 62) or road 5 from Rahula. The route is guided from the road 62 in Anttola, about 24 km from Mikkeli (signpost: Kokkosenlahti, Neitvuori ) and road 5 in Rahula about 12 km from Mikkeli (signpost: Kokkosenlahti).
