Easy walking on clear wide paths through some of the most beautiful ancient woodland.
Some open farmland with big skies, but mostly this one is about beautiful shady giants.

The route starts in the beautiful Pribdean Wood - always worth a stroll around in its own route, it's a wonderfully managed wild habitat with many rare butterflies to be spotted through the season. But we cut straight through one edge to cross the farmland separating it from New Town and the magnificent Chase Woods.

The tracks followed are all wide bridleways, clearly defined and well-used though rarely busy. It's a simple square route, with plenty of alternative paths appearing to shorten or lengthen your walk to suit.

Do watch the trees - there are some spectacular ancient giants throughout the woodland whioch are all worth your time.

And don't miss Scrubbity Barrows, just because it's probably my favourite place name ever, and everyone needs to be able to say they've walked in Scrubbity Barrows. This part also crosses the astonishing beech avenue that cuts through the heart of Chase Wood - not to be missed at any time of the year.
