3x3 Salinental: VitalTour Ebernburg
From the Ebernburg Castle to the reservoir view through rustic forest and meadow landscape, which offers expansive views.
The tour stumbles upon the picturesque wine village of Ebernburg with its typical inns, leads past a sculpture park with a view of the mighty rock face of the Rotensfels, dips into dense forest areas and opens up an enchanting view of the Niederhausen reservoir. The landscape constantly changes. Through darker sections of forest, we pass by Schinderhannesloch. Through meadowland with wide horizons, you hike with a view of the Alsenz Valley and Altenbaumburg Castle, the trail thus uncovering the rich scenery of the Nahe region. The mighty Ebernburg is the starting and finishing point of the hike.

Visit the exhibition at the castle, which highlights the importance of Ebernburg Castle during the Reformation, when Franz von Sickingen ruled here.

Turn-by-turn directions
From the hiking portal, we reach the actual tour via a shortcut. We take a sharp right at the fire station and hike to Burgdorf with its narrow streets and homely wine bars. Via stairs we reach the Ebernburg with an impressive all-round view. From Ebernburg bridge, the path leads us along a ridge, first through vineyards, later through woodland. We reach Altenbaumburgblick across an open plateau. We continue through fields with distant views until we reach a shady valley path along a romantic orchard meadow. We follow the path, round a farmstead and reach the rustic Trombachtal Valley.
From the fork in the path, the trail starts gently , then steeply up to the Schinderhannesloch via a turning path. After another short climb, we can expect a longer stretch over forest paths. Finally, we reach a wayside cross. From there, a cut leads to the magnificent reservoir view. Following the hiking trail, we walk past old border stones through the forest. We reach Kafelsblick, before forest paths take us back to Birkerhof. From there, our path leads gradually downhill along vineyards to the stone sculpture park. Here we can enjoy the magnificent view with the stone Bücherturm and Rotenfels, before meadow paths lead us back to the hike portal.
