Meneseggi Ridge stretches all the way from the fjord to the alpine Melsnipa. Halfway along the ridge is Harevollnipa, a destination for experienced hikers seeking a challenge and fjord views. The ridge itself is quite wide, but there are steep parts and a total elevation gain of 1,400 meters. The ridge lies between the Vetlefjord, Fjærlandsfjord and Sognefjord and offers stunning views.
Prepare for a long day outside and hike this trail only in good weather, primarily for safety’s sake, but also to ensure views from the top. This trail is an extension of the one to Menesstølen.
- The cabins at Menesstølen are private. Feel free to have a rest outside and take photographs, but leave the doors closed and the area untouched.
- Stock up on food and snacks in Balestrand
- The ridge continues northwards via several peaks. Amongst them is Melsnipa, the highest mountain in the area.
