The trail E6 is part of the long distance European Trails, this is the section of the E6 through Slovenia. The whole trail goes from Finnland to Greece (6.283 km)
E6 was the first european long distance hiking trail that was marked and traced in Slovenia (by forest engineer Milan Ciglar).
Stretching out for 6300km, this path sets off from Kilpisjärvi, way up in the northwest of Finland. It leads south through Sweden, Denmark, Germany, Austria and Slovenia until it reaches the Adriatic. From here there is a gap until Greece, to be bridged by ferry to Igoumenitsa. The trail then continues across northern Greece to end on the Aegean sea.
In Slovenia, the trail starts at Radlje ob Dravi on Austiran border, and goes through Pohorje, Kope, Mozirja pass Trojane (donuts!). Than it goes over Zasavje hills, Janče and Grosuplje where it enters Dolenjska region. It crosses the region through Taborske jame, Turjak, Mačkovc to Bloke. Than pass Stari trg, over Snežnik (you can also go around), to Ilirska Bistrica. It continues over Brkini hills to slovenian istria to the finishing point (of slovenian part) in Strunjan.
