First part of the Slovenian Mountain Trail leads trough the expanses of Pohorje to the lonely mountain Plešivec in Koroška, and continues all the way to Savinja Alps.

Those are kilometres of unspoiled nature, where you will be welcomed by outstanding natural and cultural attractions. The trail can be walked in several stages and can be adjusted to your method and purpose of hiking. Once on the trail, you can explore the mysterious primeval forest, freshen up at the fabulous lakes with peat bogs and visit many small churches. You will also hear many stories, myths or anecdotes that will sound even more mysterious in genuine Pohorje or Koroška dialect. The Slovenian Mountain Trail is the oldest and most diverse connective mountain trail in Slovenia. In the length of 500 km, it leads you from Maribor all the way to the Slovenian coast, to Ankaran.
