Route starts at Skenfrith Castle. Follow the lane keeping the Church on the right. Follow the road until Y junction; follow the Three Castles track to the right along the lane. On the left is a stile with a notice saying head for the top of the telegraph pole (actually an electricity pole). Follow the directions and the stiles across the fields into the wood. On exiting the wood by a large tree the track can be followed left through the wood to the top of the valley and a short way back to Skenfrith (Diversion to top of valley shown on this route). Otherwise take the right fork to exit the field by a tree, seat nearby. Follow the field edge to cross a stream and go through the copse. Head for the way marked gate in the opposite field. Go along the edge of this field to the farm.
Take the track to the left past the bungalow and follow the track to the road. Cross and cross the stile on the left. Keep close to the field edge on the right, through the gate and head towards the stream on the right into the ‘neck’ of the field. Cross the bridge and turn right along the drive. Go through the gate and along the gate on the left to cross the field to a gate and cross the stream. Bear left along the field edge. Over the stile and bear right to a Christmas tree plantation. Follow the path, over the stile by the lake and, keeping the lake on the left, over a stile, head for the way marker post ahead and turn left to follow the track and the road.
Cross the B4521 to the stile in the opposite hedge. The path across this filed is not currently (April 2013) obvious, head for the large trees and a gate almost diagonally to left opposite where you entered the field. Again the path is not marked through the field, head straight across to a bridge, currently (April 2013) closed for six months from Dec 2012 as unsafe. Go right keeping the stream on the left, to the farm buildings. Over the stile and take the track on the right and follow to the road. Here turn left and continue straight, at the bend continue straight along the quite road into Skenfrith.
