After a short climb, you have fantastic views along the high trail that connects St. Märgen and St. Peter.
Distance 8.7 km
Follow a farm track uphill towards Rankmühle and at the edge of the forest turn left towards Kapfenkapelle (2 km). Follow the yellow rhombus along the edge of the forest. Here, numerous benches invite you to enjoy the view of the Black Forest heights. We pass a water treading place, the Birkenwegeck (1) and the Ibenbachquelle (2). Our path continues to the Kapfen Chapel (3), to the "Red Cross" and along the edge of the forest to the Vosges Chapel (4). Here we go straight on into the forest and then across the meadows of the Hochrütti. At the Vordere Willmer Höhe (5), we finally leave the forest and turn left. We can already see the two towers of the baroque church of St. Peter. The signposts to St. Peter (yellow rhombus) show us the way down. Past a café, under the country road, we reach the baroque church of St. Peter (6). Cross the monastery courtyard to the exit and turn left at the through road to the bus stop at Zähringer Eck. From there, buses run about every half hour back to St. Märgen.
