Leaving from the big P at the end of the toll road in Seewigtal Valley, we walk 15 minutes to the romantic Bodensee, past the Forellenhof and on to the head of the lake. At this point, with the rushing waterfall before our eyes, we begin a steep hike up to the Hans Wödl Hütte on the Hüttensee. This hut’s delightful terrace affords us impressive views of the lake, Schleierfall Falls and the Hochwildstelle.
Above the lake, we now head towards the Schleierfall, crossing small streams on several occasions, then climb a final rocky section, accompanied by a misty spray from the waterfall, up to the picturesque Obersee. Once there, there are splendid opportunities to stop, relax and enjoy the views. Shimmering silver alders and a few old pines fringe the shoreline, with the gigantic walls of the Hochwildstelle towering up behind. On the right-hand shore of the lake, we begin our hike up to the Neualmscharte (opportunity to cross over to the Preintalerhütte, then hike up to the summit). We return along the same route, treated to fantastic views of the Hüttensee, and extending all the way out to the Kammspitze

Safety on the mountainside: changes in the weather, sudden fall in temperature, thunder storms, wind, fog and snow fields are all objective dangers and require the correct behaviour whilst underway. the landlords of the huts are all very knowledgeable about the mountains and can give you good tips about the weather and the routes. Insufficient equipment, exaggerated opinion of ones capabilities, frivolousness, poor health condition and a false evaluation of the situation can lead to a critical situation. In thunder storms: summits, crest-sites and safety rope aids are to be avoided.
