To the high heath tower
difficult
Distance 17.3 km
We climb the Ettelsberg as well as the Langenberg and cross wonderful high heaths and shady forest sections.
A special attraction awaits us on the 838 m high Ettelsberg: at 59 m, the Willingen Hochheideturm is the highest observation tower in north-west Germany. The viewing platform is 44 m high, with 241 steps leading up to it. The tower was built in 2002 and has a 42 m high climbing wall on its north-west side. In addition, we can stop at the Ettelsberghütte, a well-known mountain inn in the Sauerland, at the summit. After the hike, we can take a tour of Willingen, and be sure to visit the town's landmark, the viaduct of the Uplandbahn.
