Ochsenthal is left in a westerly direction via Weickersgrübener Weg. The route leads through mixed forest and fields along the northern slope of the Sodenberg. After approx. 2 km there is a sharp right turn. It goes through the Saale valley to Ochsenthaler Straße and finally back to the starting point.

You can travel to the hike by public transport with the Erfurt Railway, Morlesau stop. The connections can be researched on the website of Deutsche Bahn.

The following bus line from the Bad Kissingen district stops in Morlesau:

  • Line 8166: Hammelburg - Untererthal/Diebach - Völkersleier - Hammelburg

Getting there

The hiking trail can be approached via the A7. You leave this at exit 97 Hammelburg and drive the B287 in the direction of Hammelburg. At the third entrance to Hammelburg, turn right at the traffic lights and follow the main road always keeping left through Hammelburg in the direction of Diebach. In Diebach, follow the signs towards Morlesau and after the sports field left over the bridge towards Ochsenthal.
