Minett Trail: Schifflange Gare - Bergem / Beim Nëssert
On this section you hike through the unique water and bird sanctuary "Dumontshaff", which as a Natura 2000 nature reserve offers a habitat for several species. Here you can take a closer look at the diversity of the Alzette valley and the course of the river, and with a bit of luck you can watch storks or lapwings breeding. You might even catch a glimpse of the water buffaloes grazing here - as long as they're not currently hiding from prying eyes. The wetland area you walk across has a boarded over footpath over to protect nature while still allowing you access.

Turn-by-turn directions
This stage of the “Minett Trail” trail starts either from the Schifflange train station behind the municipal building, or from the Centre Culturel "Beim Nëssert" in Bergem. Follow the official signposting: The signs show three red arrows on a white background. They are signposted "on sight" and may be affixed to streetlights or other posts.
While in our nature reserves, you can find them as glued or screwed to trees and posts; in some places the waymark is also marked on trees. At important junctions you will also find signposts with arrows indicating the direction and information about the distance to specific points, as well as pictograms of points of interest.
