Around its banks, the region around the lake fascinates with varied vegetation. Especially the forest on the Hochkippe in the south invites for leisurely walks. The water quality itself is excellent, which is why the lake is counted among the most important diving waters in Central Germany. Various bathing beaches invite you to relax around the 150-hectare lake.

The lake circuit starts in the north-west of the Kulkwitzer See. It leads down the west side to the south, through the 'Park am See' and past the small Fun Park. Once in the south, it passes the lido and on the east side, the path continues north again. Passing the octopus playground and the former miniature golf course, you will reach the north via the 'Seestraße'. To the left is now the camping site and the beautiful beach. In the north, the route runs along the water ski and wakeboard facility and reaches the starting point again.
