Turn-by-turn directions
D - Take the stairs right next to the starting panel and climb the trail (above, view of the puys of Louchadière, Chopine, Dôme and Côme) which, after 100 m, descends on a wide track. Follow it to the left and continue uphill for about 1 km. Reach a crossing just before the end of the climb (on the left, departmental signage indicating that the round trip with the summit has a duration of 1 hour).
1 - Leave the track by taking a grassy path on the left which quickly enters the beech wood. At the first intersection, go up to the left. Ignore the following two paths (one going down to the right, the other going up to the left) and continue opposite across the beech forest, to the geodesic marker marking the summit (Puy de Louchadière, alt. 1198 m). 20 m from this point, view of the Puys, the Sancy mountains and the Combrailles.
2 - Turn around and do the descent strictly on the same route as the ascent. Back on the track (PC 1), turn left (view of the puys of Jume, Coquille, Chopine and Dôme) and go, for 300 m, to a crossroads.
3 - Turn left (“Whisper”, land'art sculpture) and walk in the open then in the forest. At the second fork (where two circuits marked in yellow separate), turn left into the coniferous forest. On reaching a wider path, follow it to the right for a hundred meters. Turn left into the beech forest and immediately right. After about 100 m, leave the path to descend into a path on the right up to a wide, ashy track. Follow it to the left until the main road.
4 - Go along it on the left for 200 m (caution, dangerous traffic), turn left to reach the old quarry, cross it to arrive on a path. Go left and stay on this main path along a reforestation plantation. Enter the forest. At the fork, fork to the right and progress to the end of the forest.
5 - Take a completely grassy path on the left which, after having followed the edge of the wood for 100 m, oblique to the right and joins an agricultural path. Take this one on the right up to the road (D576). Turn left to return to the starting point.
