The access path is either from the parking lot at the entrance to the village or the bus stop in Dörrenbach. The round trip leads from the Wanderparkplatz "Altes Bild" past the Wanderparkplatz "Drei Eichen" and then the ruins of Guttenberg to the red sandstone rock formation "Steinerner Tisch" and the lookout point “Stäffelsberg”. At the beginning and end of the path, you also walk along the Gebrüder Grimm Märchenweg with its seven fairytale stations.

The so-called “Sleeping Beauty of the Palatinate” the village of Dörrenbach was awarded, in 1975, the title of being the most beautiful village along the Deutsche Weinstrasse. This small spa resort with just 1,000 inhabitants, is one of our favourite holiday destinations, right next to the Deutsche Weinstrasse and yet still fabulously quiet. Perhaps you would first like to stroll through the picturesque town centre with its half-timbered houses, a splendid town hall in Renaissance style, the medieval fortified church - and several cosy wine bars. 40 km of the most beautiful hiking trails wait for you in and around Dörrenbach: through chestnut tree forests, through sunny vineyards, to the Kolmerbergkapelle and the Stäffelsberg, with their magnificent views. You have the choice of hiking trails ranging from the “Pfälzer Weinstieg to quality hiking trails around the village such as the Dörnröschen Rundwanderweg or the Gebrüder Grimm Märchenweg. Treat yourself afterwards to a stop in one of the cosy Dörrenbacher wine taverns!

Trees can topple and branches can fall down after thunderstorms and rainstorms. Natural paths can become muddy and slippery, especially in poor weather conditions. Not all rocks and precipices are secured with ropes or railings. You need to be sure-footed in certain areas. Damage to paths of this kind is to be expected on hikes. If you feel that certain sections of the path are not passable for you, please avoid them.

Turn-by-turn directions
The access path to the Dornröschen-Rundwanderweg leads from the Wanderparkplatz at the entrance to Dörrenbach (or from the bus stop) to the parking lot "Altes Bild". There, a round trip begins through a forest of mighty chestnut trees over the parking lot “Drei Eichen” and on to the ruins of Guttenberg, the Stäffelsbergturm with stunning views over the Palatinate Forest and the Black Forest and then back to the parking lot "Altes Bild". On the first and last part of the trail you also walk along the Brothers Grimm fairytale trail with its fairytale stations. The ruined castle of Guttenberg (12th century) can be found on the Schlossberg (503m elevation), a red sandstone hill next to the border to Alsace. From the castle you will only see a few remnants; but still undestroyed is the wide view over the Mundatwald and the Rhine valley.
