A perfect hike for a clear day, Barlindåsen Ridge is a relatively easy hike with a huge reward as you look down on Oslo from the northeastern side. Whether you are walking off your weekend indulgences or trying to get in some fresh air after work, this hike is for you.

If it’s blueberry season, don’t forget to bring a bucket. With so many blueberry bushes lining the ridge trail, you will want to stock up!

Turn-by-turn directions

The trailhead for the hike starts near the disused Sandermosen train station. Head over the train tracks following the signs towards Lilloseter. When you meet the gravel road, take a left and head north towards Skillingsdalen. Take a right off the gravel road and onto the dirt trail just before the Skillingsdalen crossroad.

By hiking the ridge from north to south you will get stunning views the whole way. Follow the signs down the ridge and back towards Sandermosen.

Getting there

Driving is the easiest way to get to the start of this hike. Park at the Sandermosen train station. This is about a 15-minute drive from the entrance of Maridalen.
