Turn-by-turn directions
Geiersberg (426 m): From the fountain at Neumarkt, walk approx. 200 m along the Alte Hartmannsdorfer Straße, then straight on to the edge of the forest at Geiersberg. Left at the edge of the forest and then immediately right up the hill. Continue crossing the beech forest (bench 1/0.6 km).
Kreuzhübel (428 m): Left around uphill via the Geiersberg settlement to the Alte Hartmannsdorfer Straße. Follow this to the right to the wooded Kreuzhübel (bench 2 left on the mountain/1.6 km).
Krähenberg (441 m): Follow a field path down to Saupersdorf, cross the Auerbacher Straße and follow the road Zum Sauersack for approx. 200 m. Turn left up to the quarry where the summit once stood (bench 3/2.8 km).
Kratzberg (478 m): Continue along the path in a westerly direction, along the quarry, to the first house on the Sauersack. At the fork, keep to the right and turn left, always slightly uphill, into the Gerichtsweg and follow it to the Gerichtseiche. Follow the path to the left towards the town until you reach the edge of the forest (bench 4/4.3 km).
Quirlsberg/Ottensberg (398 m): Follow the path in a north-easterly direction slightly downhill to the junction with Burkersdorfer Straße and turn left onto it. Approx. 300 m further on, turn right to Ottensberg (bench 5 on the right at the edge of the forest/6.1 km).
Schießhausberg (440 m): Down the Ottensberg and steeply down to Rosa-Luxemburg-Straße. Continue to the right and cross Schneeberger Straße, via Sonnenberg, Täubertsberg and Scheringerstraße past the children's home to the site (bench 6/7.4 km).
Borberg (435 m): Past the town estate down to Wiesener Straße. On this and Robert-Seidel-Straße (Kaffeeberg) towards the town and sharp right on Hinterm Bahnhof to Bahnhofstraße. Follow this road briefly to the left and, after crossing it, take the Anton-Günter-Weg up to the Borberg with its lookout tower and restaurant (bench 7/10.2 km). (Hiking time: 3-4 hours depending on the time spent on the benches).
From the Borberg back to Neumarkt, walk through the miners' settlement down into the valley, then turn right along the Rödelbach stream and at the end walk along Torstraße past the Margarethenkirche church back to the town hall and finally Neumarkt.
