This track was stunning! Definitely one of the best days walks I've ever been on.

UPDATE Oct 2017: Department of Conservation are putting parking restrictions at both ends of the track (from the 20th Oct). Check with local iSites for shuttle services and more info. Make sure you organise before you go, its one of NZ's busiest tracks.
This track was stunning! Definitely one of the best days walks I've ever been on. I started midday to avoid the large crowds.
Although some of the track is easy its a long walk and the temperatures did drop to -7 with strong wind gust. (I went in November) Be prepared, its a mountain!!
Mangatepopo Valley - a well marked out track (there was no snow when we were there)
Devils Staircase - a stair climb up to South Crater
South Crater - Easy, walking across a flat crater. At the other end there is another incline to the highest point.
Red Crater to Emerald lakes - walking down the volcano. Steep but soft soil. The views are stunning here if you have fine weather.
Emerald lakes to Blue lakes - walk across the crater with one last short incline.
Blue Lake to Ketetahi Carpark - descending 8km down to the car park.
Check the forecast before you go and be prepared for anything.
