The Beggar's Path
This varied hike with a total length of around 10 km starts at the Eckte car park, above Alpirsbach. The climatic health resort of Alpirsbach is a tranquil little town with a colourful cultural programme in all seasons. It is situated in the eastern part of the Middle Black Forest on the upper reaches of the Kinzig. The monastery complex, which is over 900 years old, is a unique architectural monument that dominates the townscape and is well-known far and wide. The monastery church information centre houses all the evidence from the time when the monastery was founded by the Benedictines in 1095. Another attraction of the town is the water trail, a reminder of the waterways in the Black Forest and the fact that water farming was once one of the economic foundations of the Kinzig.
