The areas around Muikkupuro lean-to shelter are some of the most beautiful in Hossa, combining the sandy heaths and clear water courses typical of the park. An easy trail also suitable for wheelchairs or buggies.
The area around the enchanting Muikkupuro stream is one of the most beautiful in Hossa. The lean-to shelter is located between two lakes with clear waters, which are connected by the stream flowing past the shelter. The sandy-bottomed waters entice you to swim or paddle. The shallow stream is a safe place for even the youngest children to cool their toes. The trail through the eskers with tall pines is ideal for hiking in the snow-free season. This trail is accessible and thus also suitable for wheelchairs or buggies. However, visitors should be prepared for the many uphill and downhill sections of the trail. The Muikkupuro trail will treat you to sights typical of Hossa National Park: tall, orange-barked pines, incredibly clear water, lush greenery, round sandy eskers and silvery deadwood.
An easy hiking trail also suitable for young children and buggies. For wheelchair users the trail is challenging, and an assistant is needed. The trail surfaced with rock dust is smooth but contains uphill and downhill sections.
