Through the Salm Valley to Bekond Castle
In Klüsserath, the Salm flows into the Moselle. It is a classic roadside village that stretches for 2 km along the Moselle's baffling slope. This is where the typical regional saying comes from: „As long as Klüsserath“. An old court lime tree stands at the village well. The parish church has a Gothic choir and a high altar from the Renaissance period, which was made in the school of Johannes Rupert Hoffmann. The new parish centre „Alte Ökonomie“ houses tourist information and a wine shop. The Moselle valley here has the shape of a natural amphitheatre, with wonderful views along the walks. In Bekond you can visit the former castle garden with orangery, which was transformed into a landscape garden in the 19th century. In Klüsserath you can stop off at one of the wine taverns or winegrowers' businesses.
