There is also a slightly longer version of this hiking tour: The climb from Twenger Almsee to the impressive summit of the Großer Gurpitscheck (2,526 m) is a challenging addition to this tour for mountain enthusiasts.Tip: On the way back, you should stop at 40.6 km to Radstadt and visit the impressive Johannis-waterfall, which is only a 5-minute walk from the road.

Tip: You can also use this fantastically beautiful lake as a starting point for a summit hike. From the outflow of the lake, a rising path leads you within 20 minutes to a mountain ridge, from which you have a wonderful view of the Schönalm lakes in Lungau. After another short walk you can reach the Gollitschspitz (2,247 m) on the left. If you are stil not done after this ascent, you can continue the hike to the Great Gurpitschek (2,526 m). The way there leads you over the beautifully curved north ridge to the summit. The way back is the same as the way up. After this tour it is time for a well-deserved snack in the Twengeralm.
