Safety information
The little etiquette for protected areas:- All protected areas are marked with official signs.
- Look out for informative signs. They contain information about the protective purpose of the region and about the animals and plants in the area,
- The Wadden Sea is a vital gas station for millions of migratory birds. Please avoid bird aggregations over a large area. Do not disturb breeding birds.
- Throughout the entire protected area, dogs must be kept on a leash.
- Keep your distance to resting seals, seals and seabirds.
- Camping, building fireplaces and leaving official paths is prohibited.
- Please do not "camp" in the overgrown dunes.
- Take your garbage with you again.
- Do not feed seagulls.
- One more request: Do not take any animals or plants.
- Vital: Under no circumstances should you undertake a mudflat hike on your own! As harmless as the Wadden Sea looks at low tide, the flood can surprise you and take the idyllic natural environment back into your own hands.

Turn-by-turn directions
The trail continues straight ahead along the cycle path towards the lighthouse. In addition to the salt marshes and their specialists, we are very close to the diverse flock of birds of Langeneß on this trail.
Between the stone edge and the summer dyke there are comparatively low-lying and richly structured salt marshes which are flooded more often than the agriculturally used Fennes of the Hallig which are located behind the summer dyke: the proverbial "wild west" of the Hallig which has a particularly high ecological value. The Sommerdeich is a small dike, which is particularly well visible between Rixwarf and the lighthouse. It protects the Hallig from smaller land subsidence or higher water levels, especially in summer for haymaking.
Follow the tarred path along the summer dyke always straight ahead and enjoy the view over the salt marshes. Shortly before the turnoff you will find the Hallwarf.
Continue through the hiking gate towards the lighthouse.
IMPORTANT: Always close gates correctly. From here you have a wonderful view of the surrounding islands of Amrum and Föhr and the neighbouring Hallig Hooge.
Now the path leads back to Halge. After passing the hiking gate keep left. At the end of the two-plate path, the route turns left to the remains of Neu-Peterswarf.
The route takes you back along the path, straight on past the turn-off towards Halge. Follow the road to the bridge. This leads over one of the large tideways that cross the Hallig.
The path continues around the Kirchhofswarf to the entrance of the cemetery.
We leave the cemetery at the Kirchhofswarf following the road to the north. At the end turn left to Ilef-Hafen (A). Here you have a good view of the neighbouring island Föhr, which seems to be especially close at low tide.
Go back along the road until the next crossing, which leads left to Mayenswarf. There you have the opportunity for a break at the Hotel Anker's Hörn.
TIP: Enjoy the view and the hallig atmosphere after your refreshment. The suitable bench with a view of the island Föhr is located at the bathing area - follow the road around the Warf once.
Then back down the road again towards Hauptstraße. The path leads to the left. At the next corner turn right and follow the road.
Follow the road until the next Warf. At the end of the street is Warf Hilligenley. From Hilligenley (A) you can also walk to the ferry pier on Rixwarf which is within sight. At the ferry quay there is a bench where you can let your impressions sink in. We hope that you enjoyed your trip to the Halligworld.

Public transport
Public-transport-friendly
Arrival by train & bus & ferry:You can travel to Bredstedt by train. From there a bus will take you to the Schlüttsiel ferry port (departure directly on the station forecourt). The ferry awaits the arrival of the bus. The bus is also waiting for the return trip, in case the ferry is delayed. The easiest way to reach the Hallig is to indicate "Hallig Langeneß" as your final destination at the ticket counter. Then you will receive a ticket including ferry crossing directly and your train connection will be adapted to the ferry times.
